Waxing info

Base waxing

Thorough base waxing is essential for successful ski waxing. A wax used for base waxing should be absorbed thoroughly onto the base and create a strong surface for waxes to be melted on top of it. Base waxing should be done always before using new skis and once a year to old skis.

Base waxing is for the glide zones of the base. Grip zone will be left without base waxing. Make sure that your skis do not have any defaults before you start using them. Clean up the glide zones of the base with polishing fibre that has been moisten with ski wax remover liquid. You can also clean up the glide zones of the base first absorbing with an iron a thick layer of base wax and then remove still warm and liquid wax by using a cloth. The melted liquid wax will absorb all dirt and move over to the cloth.

Polyethylene base a.k.a. transparent bases

1. Melt BW base wax onto the base. Let the wax cool down and scrape off the excess wax with a sharp acryl scraper. Repeat the procedure two or three times.

2.
Melt glide wax to the base according to the weather. Let the wax cool down and scrape off the excess wax. Lastly brush the base with a brass brush until the base structure becomes visible. Repeat the procedure once or twice.
Your skis are now ready to use.
Note! When melting the wax, make sure no smoke comes out because if the iron is too hot it can damage the base.

Graphite polyethylene bases a.k.a. black bases

1. Melt BW base wax onto the base. Let the wax cool down and scrape off the excess wax with a sharp acryl scraper. Repeat the procedure once or twice.

2.

3.
